Photo Projects January ‘22 Cohort
Welcome to the gallery page for our January 2022 cohort of Photo Projects. Our Photo Projects class is a 5-week online workshop focused on challenging creativity and exploring composition through a series of assignments. Each week students receive a different assignment that pushes them to think critically about their approach to photography and encourages them to try new techniques to ultimately grow as a photographer. Students then get the opportunity to improve their own photographic eye by providing feedback during our weekly critique.
The following works have been curated by the students from our January 2022 cohort led by BPW instructor Sami Wright. Be sure to enjoy their incredible work and congratulate them on wonderful growth as photographers!
Assignment 1: Photo Potpourri
For this assignment, students were presented with a word bank: Patterns | Bright | Minimalist | Dramatic | Contrast | Movement. Then, they chose up to three words to serve as inspiration for their photos that week.
Assignment 2: Time of Day
Assignment 3: Monochrome Color
Assignment 4: Close Up Series
For the final assignment students created a mini-series of images that challenged them to think about cohesive themes, telling a story and getting close to their subject matter and presenting it in a unique way!
Final Series: Jon Restrepo
“Funny how much of a difference 24 hours can make in Boston.”
Final Series: Heather Hirsch
“These are a few of my favorite things: Raindrops on roses // Whiskers on kittens // Bright copper kettles // Warm woolen mittens”
Final Series: Alexandra Bach-Weidmuller
“Morning walk at sunrise. The phots reflect the rising sun.”
Final Series: Jim Mann
“Breakfast.”
