Your guide to studio lighting equipment, and how to use it.

From strobes, to soft boxes, light stands, and more. When it comes to studio lighting the gear list goes on and on. In this course we’ll introduced students to the three main types of necessary equipment for any studio. Whether it’s an at-home studio, working on-location, or if you simply want to learn about lights and equipment, this course will teach you what you need to know and sort out the white noise.

The class combines discussion-based learning and studio shooting, allowing you to become more familiar and comfortable using new equipment. The curriculum includes light modifiers and their functions and different lighting setups to make dynamic photos anywhere, anytime.

Topics covered:

  • Equipment basics: The three types of gear

  • Lighting fundamentals: Direction and Diffusion

  • Hands on practice and real time lighting demos

  • Recommend equipment to get started anywhere

What To Bring:

  • DSLR, mirrorless camera, or advanced point-and-shoot with "manual mode." We offer camera rentals for the class here

  • Notepad and pen/pencil
