We’ve created a map of our touchstone classes so you can build your photography toolkit and visualize your path based on your goals and skill level.
1. Learn your camera
Your journey starts here. Get your camera off the shelf and into your hands with these classes designed to help you master your settings and dive right into photography.
Digital Cameras I
Three settings is all it takes to control the brightness and darkness of your photos. In this class, we will take you step-by-step through taking photos in manual mode and controlling each of those three important settings. You will walk away with a deeper understanding of the capabilities of your camera and say goodbye to auto mode forever!
Better Composition Photo Walk
Take a walk with us around Boston to practice using manual settings and learning how to “see”. Our instructor will introduce you to some fun compositional rules that will challenge you to try new things with your photography and be more intentional when you click that shutter button.
Night Photography
Learn how to apply your knowledge of manual settings to create cool, crisp nighttime images. Meet us in different locations around Boston to get hands-on practice with long exposure, get creative with light trails, and learn to how to utilize a tripod to help you make the most out of low-light conditions.
Bonus class: For photographers who want to practice composition and have an added passion for food (like we do), check out one of our favorite beginner classes, Food Photography I.
2. Improve your photos
You’re comfortable with the basics and you’re ready to push your images to the next level.
Lightroom Classic I
Editing isn’t cheating, it’s maximizing the potential of your photos! We will guide you through the organizational and editing tools of Lightroom Classic software to prepare you for managing your growing photographic library. Then we will introduce you to the best tools to improve the brightness, color, texture, and overall mood of your images.
Digital Cameras II
Take a deep dive into new compositional rules, visualize the impact of changing your white balance, understand the interaction of color and light, and have some fun playing with autofocus points. This class introduces you to more complex technical aspects of your camera. Oh and don’t forget our favorite part—help yourself to our BPW lens buffet to see firsthand the impact different lenses have on your photography.
Bonus class: Our intermediate level Portraiture class is the perfect way to practice your photographic eye for composition and experiment with new subject matter.

Grow your skillset with more specialized classes aimed at challenging you to create all different types of photos.
Flash & Studio Lighting
Lighting is an integral element of photography and this class will help you master it. Understand how different types of light affect your images, learn to identify light source and direction, and tackle a variety of lighting set-ups in our studio.
In-Depth Workshops
Our In-Depth Workshops are dedicated to exploring specific photographic topics like Black and White Photography and Macro Photography. Put the notes aside, challenge yourself, and just focus on creating and utilizing a range of skills in your toolkit. Want to take it even further?
